November 2006; Washington (Lewis Co.) - Hunter Describes Close Encounter Outside Doty
Date Submitted: 4/14/2007 2:13:22 AM
Investigator Name: Scott D. Taylor
Report Classification: Class A
Date of Incident: Year2006
Season: Fall
Month: November
Day of Month: 11/18/2006
Location: State: WA
County: Lewis
Directions to Location: It was an area that had been closed to motorist traffic for the last 3 years.
Nearest Town: Doty
Nearest Road: 8000 line
Observed: I am not a very good writer. It would be better to talk to me but I'll do my best. I was road hunting up by Doty, Washington in the woods in an area that had been closed to motorist traffic for the last 3 yrs. I drove to the end of the road in a small clear cut that had grown up a bit. Saw nothing, no birds, no animals, no tracks, which i thought was weird, so i was looking down at the side of the road to look on the down hillside for tracks and i saw something black move real close. Then this thing stood up and looked at me and I stopped the truck and froze. It was really close like 15 feet on a downhill slope that was steep and this thing was almost at my level. It was very thick and very tall like over 8 feet tall and very broad across the shoulders. It seemed as nervous as I was. it moved side to side and was moving its arms around. I then said something like, "Oh my God", and then it blew its checks way up and muttered something weird and I said something I can't remember. Then it screamed very loud at me which made me scream in fear and then it turned and stepped up on a stump and jumped downhill. i floored the truck and went back to my son and his girlfriend about 1/2 to 3/4 mile away where I had left them to watch for deer.
I was very scared and upset. I waited to tell them but I was scaring them with how upset I was. So about an hour later i told them. That's when they told me that they had heard a weird scream from the direction that I had come from. My son wanted to go look for tracks and I said no but he finally talked me into it. So we went back to the spot and it was very dark by now. We stayed in the truck but had every thing off but the lights. We all heard this thing throwing a fit. Sounded like it was hitting things on a tree and throwing whatever sounded like swinging a bat against a tree. Then we heard it muttering what I can best describe as mumbled bad Japanese. I know it's not just using an example to describe the sound, but no yelling this time during the muttering. My son's girlfriend got really scared and I was too. So we sped off and left the area.
Also Noticed: No birds, no animals, no tracks of animals, no sounds that should be in the woods
Conditions: Right before dark. Then we returned after dark and heard things then.
Other Witnesses: My son and a friends daughter heard the screams
from about 1/2 to 3/4 mile away
Other Stories: No first time in that area
Landscape: steep, big trees, thick cover, saw it by the road in a clear cut by big trees and a creek at the bottom
Investigator Comments: I interviewed the witness at length on several occasions by phone and in person. We were also able to access the site via mountain bike, as the gates are now locked. Based on the details given, I can conclude that this witness did indeed have a close-up encounter with a very large sasquatch.
His incident is particularly noteworthy due to the distance he was from the creature, and the brief interaction. He described something not often described: puffing out of the cheeks in a threat-like display, and shifting its weight from one foot to the other, eyes darting around, and hand-arm movements.
The area where the incident happened is normally gated. At this time, the area had been opened for the first time in three years. This road closure had provided an excellent, mostly undisturbed sanctuary. The habitat is rich in forage, containing a mix of swampy creeks, as well as clear-cut and timber of differing ages
Creature description:
8-10 Ft. tall.
Estimated weight: 600-800 lbs
Color: Black
Hair: Long on the back, but shorter on the chest. Matted on the butt like it had been sitting in mud or soiled it’s self. Its face had little hair.
Skin color: Black
Sex: Male, as no breasts were observed.
Head shape: pointed on top, very large, no neck.
Eye color: Brown
Ears: small and close to the side of its head, not sticking out.
Teeth: human-like with longer canines that a human, but not long like fangs
Tongue color: purple
He said he could see the uvula in the back of its throat.
He also commented on how wide the shoulders were. They are approximately twice that of two grown men. He said that the creature had no waist, as it was as wide at the hip as at the shoulders.
He also noted that the creature looked very mature, almost old.

March 2008; Oklahoma (Le Flore Co.) - Daylight observation by BFRO Investigator Near Honobia
Date Submitted: 5/4/2008 5:10:31 PM
Investigator Name: Sybilla Christine Irwin
Report Classification: Class A
Date of Incident: Year 2008
Season: Spring
Month: March
Day of Month: 05/03/2008
State: Oklahoma
County: Le Flore
Directions to Location: Near Highway 144, outside the Kiamichi Mountain town of Honobia
Nearest Town: Honobia
Nearest Road: 144
Observed: We were hiking up a ridge above a friends cabin. We had stopped to catch our breath and check out some stone formations. After about 10 minutes waiting for one of my friends to come back from a possible stone formation, I was looking uphill and saw a head peaking around a hickory tree and brush. It was moving back and forth from around the tree. There was a lot of dead tree fall and vegetation between us but it appeared to be sitting on the ground.
I could see a face, head and shoulder of what appeared to be of a primate. I asked the friend closest to me to come behind me slowly and look over my right shoulder. I pointed in the direction of the animal and he about fell over.
The eyes were dark and the face appeared to be covered in hair/fur. The head was crested and covered in fuzzy hair. The hair came down the head and became longer as it transitioned into the shoulder area.
The hair was an Irish Setter red. There was a very short neck area. It was100 to 125 feet away from me. It appeared to be smaller than me. I am 6 feet tall 280 pounds.
After watching it for about 5 minutes (as it watched me), my other friend started to return and it started walking back away from us. I lost sight of it, but it reappeared a short distance to the left of the previous position and began peaking at us from over the top of the vegetation it was hiding behind. This time the peeking was very quick with a minute between appearances. We watched this for about 15 more minutes and then did not see it again.
Also Noticed: We heard movement along two ravines on either side of us.
Conditions: This occurred about 1:30 in the afternoon.
Other Witnesses: Yes 2. But the second witness could only see part of the body.
Other Stories: Yes, on the BFRO website.
Landscape: Heavily wooded, hardwoods and ground vegetation. A lot of dead fall and some rock outcroppings
Investigator Commentary:
This observation happened while some BFRO investigators were scouting the areas around Honobia prior to the 2008 Oklahoma expedition, which took place near Honobia. The witness, Texas BFRO Investigator Jerry Durand, called me while he could still see the individual.
The following details can be added: Two people were able to observe an apparent juvenile bigfoot, in daylight, just outside the Kiamichi Mountain town of Honobia.
The figure appeared to be less than 6 feet tall, but it had very broad shoulders. Its hair color made it stand out in the daylight. Its hair was reddish and spiky in places, and was a couple of inches longer around the head and neck area.
Its face was rounded and flat with hair covering the cheeks and chin area. Its eyes were big, round and dark. There was not a prominent brow ridge. Some of the features were obscured by hair.
The arms were 36 to 38 inches in length and were lanky and lean. It was sitting or squatting behind rocks, trees and brush that were roughly 3 feet tall.
The length of observation was 15 to 20 minutes.
Impressions and a possible wood knocking "station" were found 50 yards from the spot.
Both witnesses are experienced in tracking and field investigations.
Background: As I saw the creature, what I believe to be a juvenile, I did not want to take my eyes of of it. After I called TH over to see it, I removed my pack and began to search blindly for the camera. I couldn't feel it so I radioed my wife to look in my truck and make sure I didn't leave it there. (She turned the radio off because of static). I refused to take my eyes off of Nubbie, as we are referring to it. I concentrated on observing every detail I could so as to file a report. Plus you never know how long you will be able to see a sighting of this nature. When we finally lost sight of Nubbie for good, I searched my pack and my camera was there. I was hot, fit to be tied."

December 1975-76; California (Inyo Co.) - Two Men Recall a Nighttime Face to Face Encounter on Lonely Hwy. 395
Date Submitted: 1/4/2009 1:41:53 PM
Investigator Name: Richard A. Hucklebridge
Report Classification: Class A
Date of Incident: Year 1975-76
Season: Winter
Month: December
State: CA
County: Inyo
Directions to Location: We were on a two-lane road, slightly elevated highway, with the equivalent of a dirt emergency lane located on the opposite side of the road. This is where the biped 'creature' was running in the same direction as we were driving, but on the other side of the road. From the time 'it' came into our completely unobstructed view, to the time we came eye-to-eye (perhaps ten feet away) was perhaps 40-60 seconds. Look at your watch, count the seconds, because the viewing seemed an eternity.
The level valley (which the highway was constructed upon) had some knee high shrub for perhaps half a mile on each side of highway then the sharp incline of mountainside with pine trees above.
Nearest Town: Between Mammoth Lakes & Bishop California. Per the passenger, he estimated the sighting location was between 2 to 21/2 hours, driving time south of Mammoth Lakes.
Nearest Road: Highway 395The level valley (which the highway was constructed upon) had some knee high shrub for perhaps half a mile on each side of highway then the sharp incline of mountainside with pine trees above.
NEAREST TOWN: Between Mammoth Lakes & Bishop California. Per the passenger, he estimated the sighting location was between 2 to 21/2 hours, driving time south of Mammoth Lakes.
NEAREST ROAD: Highway 395
OBSERVED: NOTE: Please see the following included sections for elaboration of details. Two of us were driving home from a day of skiing at Mammoth Mountain California. The road was a two lane highway (opposite directions) with a soft dirt shoulder. We were in an open convertible (because the skis did not fit otherwise).
The moon was full and the lighting was un-obscured and visibility was (near daylight) excellent. In the distance (well beyond the reach of the High beamed head lights) two of us could see a very large and (completely out of place) thing running ahead of our approaching car. It was on the other side of the road. We slowed, 50, 40,30mph... now in our headlights. Running on the dirt shoulder, obviously unaware of our approaching auto... There it was "Bigfoot"! At its closest point we were 10 UNOBSTRUCTED FEET FROM IT! EYE TO EYE!
ALSO NOTICED: Perhaps, the most "burnt in" recollection of the sighting was the look of absolute surprise on the creature...We were close enough to SEE (and almost SENSE how very startled it was by us being suddenly eye-to-eye with us.
This was not some lower animal response. This was an intelligent human like, 'Oh crap- you saw me and where did you come from' look of surprise, as it stared at us just prior to running down and off the elevated highway.
The creature was SIGNIFICANTLY larger than even the largest of human beings (NO WAY THIS WAS A HUMAN BEING DRESSED IN COSTUME AS "BIGFOOT").
While, we were sitting in an auto, I can still say, with a high degree of accuracy, that the creature was eight to nine feet tall. The body mass was stout, thick in the chest/trunk, and very muscular. Even though 90% hair covered, you could see outline of significant "muscle definition and mass". This is much better than a guess; it weighed upwards of 500-600 lbs.
I can remember many details of creature: hair 90%, dirty skin tone, where there was leathery skin 10%, arm length, relative appendage size, and the biometrics of the approximate 15 mph running gate...Even the highly expression (because of the surprise) on its eyes...
The other witness, I am quite certain, will have an equally vivid recollection.
OTHER WITNESSES: Two witnesses. Me, the driver (it was my turn at the wheel) of the small convertible and the owner passenger. Both were 19 year old males, and old friends. The top was down, even though winter, because we had skies in the car. This had been a non-drinking day of skiing for us. The car was a little Fiat with a great heater and wind deflection design. We were driving on the Highway......
OTHER STORIES: Just for the record, I am readily willing to submit to a lie detector and/or regression hypnosis. I suspect the second witness would do so as well.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: A full moon, cold and absolutely clear, and the time of night was between 8 & 9:00pm. The light of the intense full moon gave the crispness and brightness of "twilight". We had excellent visual clarity of the surrounding environment and the actual 'creature' less than a dozen feet away.
Additionally, the headlights of the auto added lighting. However, my recollection is such that the ambient lighting from the moon was (if you assigned light character) perhaps 75%, and the remaining acuity of 25%, from the headlights. It was quite nearly like a full daylight sighting.
ENVIRONMENT: See Time & Conditions. There were absolutely no manmade structures or lights from any structures for dozens of miles leading up to sighting. Also, there were no lights of structures for dozens of miles after the sighting. Quite literally, we were in the middle-of-nowhere. I recall that there was no other auto traffic, period. No natural obstructions (trees, bushes).

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Richard Hucklebridge:
Per this investigator who has used this 395 highway over many decades, and during this time period, 1975-76, where this highway for the most part was a two-lane road most of the way to the Mammoth Lakes area, but they began working on making this highway into a four-lane road in small sections during this time. I will retell J.E.'s story in an attempt to squeeze out a few more details about this creature as they occurred. This witness is a very believable and credible person, who is a family man holding an important position in the business world.
The first contact with this witness was in the afternoon of 1-10-09, in which J.E. was in route to an appointment. Per this witness, the image of this creature is still very eminent in his mind, and he will feel vindicated when he can get his story out to the public at large, so they can attempt to try and understand this extended sighting and close encounter with this creature that he had back in the 1975 - 76 era. This witness was moved to tell his story by a recent Radio Broadcast he had heard in his home town area of Atlanta, Georgia.
He and his friend, who we will call and talk with later, were driving towards home with their top down in a rear engine Fiat from the ski area in the Mammoth Lakes area, when this creature appeared a head of them moving in a fairly fast fluid jogging motion, in their view. At that moment our witness said, "His view of the world changed", because they both knew it wasn't a man in a suit jogging down this long lonely road with no other vehicles or any lights of any kind in view in either direction for miles. As their vehicle approached this creature the witness said, "They could see the muscles moving under the hide of this large stout creature, and it was not jogging or running like a person would move in a similar circumstance. The witness stated, "That the biometrics of its movement was just not of a man! There was no way that anyone would be out trying to trick somebody driving down this road at this time of night".
As they were sneaking up on this creature they began to slow down to see just what it was that they were both viewing. One of his first thoughts was to get away from this thing as fast as possible just in case they had a flat tire or something. But, as they came along side at a very close distance they could see its facial expressions on its face, and at no time did he ever feel threatened by this close personal face to face encounter with this creature.
I called J.E. on January 11, 2009 and we continued our discussion of what this creature looked like up close and personal.
Facial area: The witness observed a profile and head of a circular face that was light tan in color with a dirty looking Caucasian looking face that had this two-part intelligent expression on that face when first observed. Per the witness this double expression was interpreted as, 'how surprised it was when it was viewed by these witnesses, and where did they come from?" These expressions seemed human like by using its eyes, mouth and facial movements. As for the nose, it looked like a roman-type meaning large and rounded. The facial features seemed more refined, something more humanoid-like, but not as coarse like an animal's. Its eyes were spaced wider apart than a human and they were oval in shape.
J.E. also noticed a heavy eye-brow structure, something like a shelf over its eyes, with a large forehead structure. The head seemed smaller and out of proportion as compared to the rest of its body, but it had a very thick neck. The mouth and lips seemed similar to ours, but it never opened its mouth and/or made any noise that the witness ever saw or heard. A humanistic chin was also observed.
As for what the rest of the body of this creature looked like, as observed by this witness to the best of his memory is as follows. The body was very large, thick, and muscular with the shoulders much wider than the hips. As they were driving up on this creature he observed the definition of the muscles on its large back and buttocks area. He viewed what he believed were calluses on the bottom of its very large feet as it was jogging down the dirt section of that road. The arms which were swinging as it was jogging and seemed to be proportionally thicker and longer to those of humans. The hands were very large, and were not all covered by hair, but covered as far as the first knuckle of its fingers. The color of this creature was a darkish brown to amber, but he never saw any black or reddish tint to its hair color.
The witness stated that about 90% of this creature was covered in hair; included in that small percentage that was not covered were its hands, the bottom of its feet and the facial area. He further stated that the hair was between 3 to 4 inches long on most of the body. Also, he never viewed its genitals and/or any breasts on this creature but believes that it was a male. He never observed any ears, or smelled anything strange, but he did observe calluses on the lower parts of its knees.
During the afternoon of January 11, 2009, I called and talked with the other witness, B.M., who was the passenger in the vehicle with J.E., and he confirmed that the sighting took place, but couldn't add any further information as to what has already been reported. But, I attempted to nail down a better location as to where this all took place, and he could only estimate somewhere between 2 to 2 1/2 hours south of the Mammoth Lakes area on Hwy. 395. Per the above information, I am going to place it somewhere after the small town of Independence, California, and someplace north of Lone Pine, California.
So in summary, I do believe that J.E. and B.M. had a close encounter with what we call a Sasquatch creature back in the 1975 to 1976 time period on a lonely section of that 395 Highway in Inyo County of California. Yes, it would be a good thing if someone could get a forensic artist to have a sit down with this witness and draw what he saw on that December night.
J.E.'s e-mail message to me prior to talking with him: "After all these years, why now am I coming forward? It was the Radio Show. I heard a discussion about the quality of other 'hearings' and 'sightings'... I felt that I should share a 100% certain observation.
As odd as my observation may sound to some, I have nothing to prove...Without any intellectual reservation, I know these creatures exist, period, because we were eye-to-eye.
Sure, at that sighting we were scared beyond words...However, for decades I have been at peace with the knowledge of their existence... After all, these creatures must possess considerable intellect to have not been "fully detected" after all these years.
Respectfully, J.E."

November 1996; Oklahoma (McCurtain Co.) - Experienced Hunter Describes a Brief Standoff at approx. 80 yards, in Daylight, Near Smithville

Report Classification: Class A
Date of Incident: Year1996
Season: Fall
Month: November
Day of Month: 25
State: Oklahoma
County: McCurtain
Nearest Town: Smithville
Nearest Road: 285
OBSERVED:
In November 1996 just a couple of days before thanksgiving my best friend and I were camping and deer hunting on Weyerhaeuser forestry land in SE Oklahoma the nearest town would be Smithville but even at that it would somewhere around 9 miles as the crow flies. (Land has since been sold to John Hancock Corp). This area is in the same general area as where my written report occurred.
This area is used to grow soft pine trees for harvesting to grind into paper pulp. The total area is something around 800,000 acres. So you can imagine how big of an area this is. There are no homes or anyone living in this area at all, in fact you are not even allowed to build any permanent hunting cabins or such things.
By this time of 1996 I had actually all but given up gun deer season, I was almost strictly a bow hunter. About 3 years before I was actually in a tree stand and had a bullet go over my head. Some idiot was out there somewhere (never seen him heard the shot but never seen the guy that pulled the trigger) anyway he was out there just taking pot shots. I had decided after that I would just stay with my bow hunting. However my buddy wanted me to go with him as he was alone, so I decided to go ahead and accompany him.
The area that we camped in is an area that is very difficult to get to and rarely does anyone go into this area. You have to exit off a logging road and travel up this very steep clear cut that climbs up a small mountain. There is really not even a road as such that you have to travel along. At one time the loggers just took a dozer and cut a path the width of the dozer from the bottom of the mountain all the way up and then along the crest of the mountain. And this path is never maintained so it gets very rough and only a 4x4 can get through and even with that you have to drive at a speed little more than walking speed.
This path travels about 3 miles and simply dead ends just at the start of the downward side of the mountain. Me and my buddy call it the dish. We call it that because you are traveling up this mountain in heavy forest make a curve then suddenly you are facing down and at the bottom is a area that very much resembles a satellite dish where it is void of trees and the concave shape of the ground gives the impression of a satellite dish. This clear area is about 30 feet or so in diameter.
So anyway we make the journey up the mountain and take the treacherous path up to the dish. There we make our camp and it of course becomes our home away from home for the next few days. It was a bit odd this year because normally you see one or two hunting camps once you enter the area from the highway. But this time we seen not one camp or hunter. Now to take note the dish from the highway is 14 miles, now of course that is not straight line miles because you know how access and logging roads rarely run straight for any distance.
On day 3 of our hunting trip we get up before daylight as usual and get ready to go out into nature and see if we find any deer. After all, that was why were there, even so I had seen nothing the previous two days but didn’t really care because as usual I very much was enjoying myself with the flora and fauna. I am also very interested in geology and there is much to see in that area. To imagine that area at one time was a shallow sea never ceases to amaze me. I wish when I took my first geology course in college I would have changed my major and pursued that field further.
Oh sorry there got off track didn’t I.
We decide which directions we were going and we plan for our rendezvous back at the dish for 12 noon. We walk together for about ½ mile camp and there we split up my buddy continues to the west along the top of the mountain and I head south down the side of the mountain.
Being that it was not yet daylight and these woods are very thick and dangerous to walk in during the daylight hours due to the rough rocky terrain I was not about to do any walking until first light so after we split I only walked about 10 yards or so and sat down and waited for a few more minutes until sun up.
At sun up I get up and start my hunt, I normally am not a stalker for a couple of reasons to be a successful stalker you must have coordination to walk and not make noise also you really need a lot of stamina. I possess neither of those traits. So I normally hunt from some type of stand.
But I had sat for several hours the evening before and was ready to move, plus I wanted to do some exploring into a saddle I had never been into before so this day I decided to stalk.
NOTE:
I am using the term “saddle” here and will continue using that term; however it really is not a saddle as such.
A saddle is the gap between where 2 mountains run close together. This area is on the same mountain but it has two ridges (or fingers extending out away from the mountain) making a gap and valley in between these two parallel fingers much like a saddle.
Imagine if you will, make a fist with your left hand, then after you make a fist extend your index and middle finger out like you are making the peace sign. Your hand is the mountain and your two extended fingers are these fingers that extend out from the mountain. The width of this finger is I am guessing somewhere around 150 yards, but could not see all the way through because of the trees (more on this further below).
I will be walking down that eastern finger which in the above example would be your middle finger. Your index finger will be the western finger or ridge.
(I hate using the term ridge it is too vague).
The distance between these two fingers were only about 50 yards apart at the mountain and by the time you get out to the tips they are nearly a hundred yards apart.
So the technically are not parallel either they do diverge some. And the length of the finger I am on is about 300 yards. The length of the western finger is about 370 yards.
Never went up there so I have no clue how wide across it is. Also the crest of that finger is about 20 – 30 yards higher than the one I am on.
END OF NOTE
I start walking down the mountain side and after about a half hour I reach the eastern finger of the saddle. I sit for a few minutes to rest and catch my breath before taking out down this finger of the saddle. On this finger I could view the saddle valley to my right and also could see the eastern side of the western finger of the saddle.
From the top of the finger I was walking I could see very clearly down to the bottom of the saddle which was no more than 100 feet to the floor nearest the mountain and as you walked the top of the finger away from the mountain this finger sloped downward toward the valley so that by the time the finger ended the valley within the saddle was no more than 50 feet from the peak of the finger to the valley within the saddle.
So from my 12 o’clock position to 180 degrees to my right (clockwise) I had a totally unobstructed view. With the exception of the trees in the saddle valley. But I had a clear enough view that if a deer was in there or came through that valley there was no way I would miss seeing it.
This particular course also gave me a good look at the western finger face although with many trees on it there were several spot that had no trees and the rock strata was exposed which would give me a chance to look at to see If I could distinguish the types of rock there. I could also watch the ridge top of the western finger and see anything coming over the top.
Over to my right across the top of this finger is heavily wooded with mainly hardwoods however there were some pine trees among them. This is old growth trees some of the hardwood (oaks, hickory) are quite large. It is heavily wooded enough that even in the bright sun it is fairly dark in there only a few feet in.
Not dark enough that you can’t see but you certainly would not need sun glasses in there. It, just like up in the dish it gets dark in there long before the sun is fully set. There is very little under growth in this area because it is so sunlight challenged. And the spacing between trees are fairly wide so that if anything of any size moved through you would have no trouble sighting it.
This tree line extends almost all the way to the edge of the finger. You would only have maybe 5 feet of space to walk the length of the finger clear of trees. From the edge of this finger I am on in some places are straight down into the valley below. The only way to get on this finger is from the direction I came or as I will speak to later would be from the very end or tip of this finger.
So I slowly stalk down this finger, keeping just inside the tree line so as not to be exposed to the valley floor and the western finger. I stalk very slowly along in no hurry whatsoever. Understanding that stalking means walk a few steps stop, wait, and listen, and repeat. I stalk nearly the entire length of this finger and decide I need a break so I walk out of the tree line to a spot that is actually clear of trees (except for one tree about the diameter of basketball) for about an area the size of a large bedroom.
There was this very fine looking stump there that actually looked like it was made for my fat butt and it was high enough that I did not even have to bend my knees very far to be sitting. I figured I would sit for a while and rest my tired legs then I would finish walking this finger all the way to the tip and look down it and into the valley across the way.
Then head back because we were to hook back up at noon and by now it was 9:30 and I was a good 3 miles from camp and a very hard climb back up the mountain. (Why in the hell did I ever decide to walk down the damn mountain, I knew I would have to walk back up at some point)?
As I was sitting on my fine stump I looked down the finger out to the tip. At the tip was a huge oak tree I am 5ft 10 and it would have took two of me to wrap my arms around this thing.
As I was looking at this tree and trying to figure out how a tree can grow to that size in so little soil.
I then notice just off to the right of this tree a figure walking up from below the tip of the finger. The figure was in bright sunlight so I immediately recognized it as walking on two feet. And he appeared to me to be walking with his head down.
But my first thought was what a dumb ass. It is deer season and if you are in hunting you are required to wear blaze orange and this guy had none. Even if you are not hunting it is a good idea if you’re out in the woods.
Now granted I had only seen one human in 3 days and that was my hunting buddy. And even though there were no humans for miles I for one would never take a stupid chance like that. I guess I should mention also that during the deer gun season, logging operations cease and the loggers go home. The company’s do not want their employees getting plugged by some knucklehead hunter.
So I knew that this guy was not a logger. Then the next question came to my mine how in the hell did this guy get there? There is no logging road in that direction for a very long way. And from the nearest road it is a long ass haul to that point. And that haul would not be easy at all in fact that area is inaccessible even by an ATV.
The next thought no he is not a hunter he is not carrying a rifle nor does he have one slung on his shoulders.
Now remember that all these thoughts were processed in my head in a matter of micro-seconds. While this guy was walking slowly up this slope to the top of this finger that I am on.
Then the next though through my mind gosh that is a cone head (from the movie) with hair. Because his head was very pointy.
Next thought my god those are big assed shoulders.
Next thought why in the hell is he wearing a mink coat? WTF.
Next thought did god forget to give this guy a neck? It looked to me as his head was attached directly to his shoulders.
Then this guy finally reaches the top and stands directly besides that big oak I was looking at just moments ago.
Next thought my god that is one big MF. I have seen many football games and some of those have been up in the nose bleed section and those guys even that high up look big.
But this was different I am now 83 yards from this guy and he is the biggest person I have ever seen bar none.
Then the big guy looks up and looks directly at me out in front of god and everyone. It was then I realized ok I am not looking at any man but not really animal either it didn’t seem.
Now let me attempt to explain what big guy did. Imagine yourself standing looking straight ahead at some target and right next to you and slightly in front of you to your right is a big tree.
Your desire now is to get behind that tree with little movement as possible. What you would most likely do is simply lift your left foot and pivot 90 degrees counterclockwise on your right foot with your head and neck froze in place to watch your target while moving. That is what he done.
Next thought do I have any clean underwear back at camp cause me thinks I need them.
Then the flight or fight response kicked in on me but I forced myself to stop think and evaluate.
I determined that at 83 yards (didn’t know it was exactly 83 yards at that time I went and marked off the distance later)(I was actually guessing at the time 100 yards)there was no way no matter how fast he was, that he could cover that distance before I put at least 3 bullets in him.
(However I thought later than may have only pissed him off as big as he was). But anyway when I assured myself there was no real danger I calmed down and started thinking clearly again.
The big guy was now standing behind that oak watching me then suddenly he popped behind the tree and I couldn’t see him. So at that point I very slowly got up and moved behind that little tree near me.
Then I peeked around that basketball sized tree (BTW at that time I was beach ball size so you can see the tree really offered no concealment) to see what was happing.
By the time I looked back up he was once again peeking out from behind the tree. Now this time I thought that poor guy is deformed somehow because there appeared to be some kind of growth just around and below his throat.
Could not make it out but definitely could see the discoloration and could see that there was something there that didn’t belong.
I was straining as hard as I could to make out the facial figures of this guy but try as I might there was simply no way I could make out any details of his face. My one real regret in this whole experience.
Anyway we just kind of stared at each other for a couple of seconds then he popped back behind the tree. So I done the same the best I could. Here I am in an area with trees the size of Volkswagens and leave to me to pick a sapling to hide behind.
After a couple of seconds behind the tree I pop out my head don’t see him but I stay in that position a couple of more seconds then the big guy pops out his head again and looks at me. Now I am really confused because the growth that seemed to be on his throat is now over on top of where a clavicle would be. I don’t know what is going on it is just too far away for me to make out fine detail. Someone with better vision probably would have been able to make things out better.
Now here it becomes surreal and I don’t know if I can put into words the way the situation seemed to instantly change. One moment I am so tense you could not have driven a straight pin up my butt with a 16 lb sledge hammer.
The very next second a calm came over me and somehow I just had a feeling that there was nothing to be concerned about. So while he was looking at me I purposely leaned my rifle up against the stump I was just sitting at with him watching me.
I just got the distinct feeling (yes I know the least scientific thing in the world) that he knew that I meant no harm and had no intention of doing anything to him. Maybe not maybe I am just reading more into that than I should.
For lack of a better word we basically played peek-boo for another two minutes popping back and forth behind the trees.
I just got a feeling he would have liked to have gotten a closer look at me just like I wanted to with him. Of course that was never going to happen. I think we may have kept doing that for a while longer but something happened that changed the circumstance.
After a total of just about 3 minutes he very suddenly snaps around the other direction?
I was thinking what the heck.
Then I heard what he heard very large SNAP coming from the woods on top of this finger.
I peed.
Then the big guy turns and keeping the tree between me and him he simply walks off. He did not run or even walk particularly fast, he was walking a bit faster leaving than he did walking in but not in any panic.
I figured if it was something that made him want to leave the area I better figure out quick what that made that noise. So I pick up my rifle and immediately start scanning. I want so badly to walk over to the tip to see if I can a glimpse of big guy. But I don’t dare until I resolve this issue.
After a couple of minutes of searching and listening to the noise I finally track to the source of the noise maker.
A frigging tank rat. Damn I missed a possible chance to get a better look at big guy because of a dang tank rat. (Don’t bother looking that species up that is my personal term for an armadillo).
As stated above after the incident I walked off the distance and also solved one of the mysteries. The abnormal growth on big guy was not on big guy at all. It was on the tree it was a viral knot about the size of softball.
I am 5’ 9/10, standing under the knot I could barely touch the bottom edge of the knot with my fingers standing on my tip toes and arm extended as far as I could.
I found no tracks what so ever even though I knew the exact location of where he walked up and back from, but the ground was hard pan and even a D9 bull dozer would have been hard pressed to leave any marks/tracks in that ground.
ALSO NOTICED: No
OTHER WITNESSES: No / that is why I never filed the report before plus never thought anyone would belive me and I have no physical evidence to prove any claim.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: early morn 9 to 10 am

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Sybilla Irwin:
The submitter has a scientific background and is an extremely articulate and credible witness.
These details can be added:
• Description of Creature: He estimates the weight to be between 700 to 800 lbs. Its build was massive and extremely muscular. Its shoulder width was approximately 40 inches wide, with a slight tapering towards the waist, but “Boxy” in appearance. He was not able to distinguish a neck.
He described the hair as being so dark brown that it was almost black and uniform in color. The texture was coarse like horse hair. The hair length was 2 inches all over with the exception of the bicep area where it appeared to be slightly longer. The hair on its head was described as “Someone having a bad hair day”, it was frizzy, matted and spiked up in places.
The skin on the face was dark and covered with short hair. When the creature snapped his head around to find the noise, a prominent brow ridge was noticed.
Its hands were huge and its arm length was long and out of proportion. Its legs were proportional to its body length but shorter in length than the arms. The creature had very well developed Gluteus Maximus muscles, forming what the submitter called a “Bubble butt”. The creature’s feet were not in his line of sight.
• Locomotion details: The creatures gait was very methodical when first seen. He walked in a very smooth, slowly effortless glide. When it was departing it sped up slightly, but was unhurried. It took three long steps and was out of sight.
He believes that the creature was every bit as curious about him as he was about it, and he got the distinct feeling the creature would have stayed longer had they not been interrupted.
• He did not see any facial expression because of the distance between them, but he did notice a visible physical change in the creature when he leaned his gun against the tree stump. He reported the tension in the muscles in the arms and chest relaxed.
• He did not tell his hunting partner about the event. It took him 6 months to digest what he had seen. He has no question of the intelligence of the creature he was viewing, reporting that what he witnessed was very close in appearance to a human being.
• The witness holds a position within the Department of Defense that is classified as sensitive critical. He delayed submitting this report for this and other reasons:
• He did not have physical evidence to confirm the event.
• He had no idea where to file a report in 1996 and the newspaper was not an option given his security clearance.

ENVIRONMENT: Pine forest

OBSERVED: Hello, I live in Medford, Oregon, I travel to the Applegate Region, Del Norte,Humbold regions quite often, mostly Applegate in the Red Buttes Wilderness, I had a confirmed sighting June 3, 2009, and have had strange occurrences since 07 in this area.
I'm still very emotional about with what I seen, and can describe every moment. I didn't know what was gunna become of me, because it's weird trying to anticipate what it was going to do, it was 50 yards are closer to me, I watched as it ducked behind some brush by a boulder on the hill, looking down upon me. 6-7 foot tall before ducking down behind brush, ovalish head, Reddish/Dark brown fur, I seen the sunlight shining off of it's shoulders which were as big as a linebackers with full gear, amber/brown eyes, flat faced, long hair matted, and big ass eyes staring straight through me, I was crippled in fear until the adrenaline started to kick in, and I ran, and jumped down the hill which was about 8 feet above the road, ran into my car, told my friend who was with me by the river, to get into the car now, we need to go, and I didn't stop until I got home, and out of the woods. I had planned to spend the day there swimming, and fishing the Applegate River, I have to say we were only there for less than an hour, 60 miles away from my house, so it'd be a waste of gas to take that trip for only an hour, I left my house at 9:30a.m. and was back by 11:15, I admit I was speeding the whole way to my house.
If it were a bear, it would of crashed off into the woods before I even would of known it was there, cuz it would of known I was there, or if it were a Mountain Lion, I probably wouldn't be typing this to you. I know what I saw, it wasn't a bear or cougar, they don't walk on their hind legs. I grew up in the Wilderness of Klamath Falls, Oregon, I've seen the animals that God has put on this planet, and this isn't anything I've seen before except on all these videos of sightings, Think of Patty, that's what I saw, I dunno if it was threatening at all, it was to me, there's been a lot of unsaid sighting that happen in the Red Buttes Wilderness which extends from the Ore/Cal boarder, to hwy 96 Siskyou county, Saied Valley, Happy Camp, Indian Creek Road, Oregon Caves National Monument, and probably 1000's of more.I read on a report that a hippy farmer from Talkemla says that he and his cohorts since they were little have been warned about the bigfoot living in this area, and that they are highly territorial, aggressive, and traveling into this area, is putting yourself in oppotunity/danger of running into one of these creatures.
please contact me, nobody else will, I'm not frauding, making this shit up or anything.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Brandon Kiel:
I spoke with the witness for quite some time six days after the sighting. I can add the following to the report:
The witness, his 15 month old daughter, and a male friend were in the area to swim and fish. The terrain in the area is very heavily forested with a lot of old growth redwoods, oak, manzanita, and very dense fern growth. They had been at the location for approximately 20 minutes when he wandered off from the other two to look for lizards. It was at this point that he heard what he described as "thumping"; when he looked he saw the animal 100 feet up a hill from him. As the encounter began, the animal very slowly and slightly crouched down, as if to conceal itself. In front of the animal was some oak/manzanita scrub. It's left arm was positioned behind a large, upright boulder.
The witness and the animal regarded one another for close to a minute and he was able to get a very good look at its features and anatomy.
He describes the body hair as a reddish brown, long, and shaggy. There was matting in spots, particularly around the upper shoulder and head, though the arms seemed to be smooth and groomed. He noted debris in the body hair. He described the hair of the animals head as being "like bad bedhead; like it has just woken up". He also notes that the hair on the head was a darker brown than the body.
The eyes were "three times as large as a human being's eyes". He notes that they were an amber brown, with very little white at the edges.
The nose was flat with large nostrils: "a pig/monkey kind of nose". He notes that the nostrils seemed very much set apart.
The lips were very full and thick. He never saw gums, teeth, or a tongue.
The ears stuck out a bit, but were fairly flat to the head. They had no hair on them, though they were the color of dirt.
There was no hair on the nose or along the jawline. The hair on the face was "patchy at best". Around the eyes was a very light, fine gray hair.
He reports seeing no neck: "it was like the head just sat right on the shoulders".
The shoulders are described as being "huge; very much like a football player with padding on, almost overly muscular like a professional body builder.
He was able to see to the mid-chest area. The chest was "definitely male, there were no female breasts". The chest was lightly covered with hair and he could see a dirty reddish/peach colored skin tone underneath.
He notes that the animal only blinked twice that he can recall during the entire encounter. The expression on its face at first was fairly benign, but as the time passed turned into a slight scowl, and the witness got the feeling that the animal didn't want him there.
There were no noise or sounds made by the animal during the encounter.
The witness finally turned and left the area and was then struck with a deep urge to leave the area. He took his daughter and friend and immediately drove away. He describes himself as being very emotional and the he "cried most of the way home", though he was not able to explain exactly why.
The last statement the witness made to me that he felt important to the report was that "this was a very, very beautiful animal".
The witness notes that the area, while remote, is popular with swimmers and fisherman. He has had two incidents in years passed near this area. One involving rocks being thrown at him and a few male friends. This incident involved a group of three men and two women camping in the area in 2007 over Labor Day. Around 11pm they heard something large splashing in the water, Shortly thereafter something began throwing pine cones into their camping area. They initially thought it was other campers playing a prank so they threw the pine cones back. This was returned by a 15lb rock being hurled at them. Their 95lb pit bull ran towards the "thrower" only to return a few seconds later, running into the truck and refusing to come out. It was at this time they they abandoned their campsite (gear and all) and left the area. When they returned to the location the next day, their tents had been messed up with some being knocked down. Their ice chest with all the meat and food in it was nowhere to be found but the witness' wallet with $150.00 in it was still there.

Observed: This sighting was so traumatic it took me almost 40 years to find the strength to finally describe this Bigfoot encounter.
In 1968 three friends and I were attending college in Sacramento CA. We were about to start Thanksgiving break when a mutual friend asked all three of us to visit his family's 2 story cabin for the holiday, located at Strawberry Lodge near Lake Tahoe.
We had all been friends since grammar school and had visited his family's cabin at least 2 or 3 times in the past. The cabin was a well built clean two story A-frame with lofted upstairs bedrooms and great wide views in southern and eastern directions towards the mountains and creeks. There are other cabins nearby, some you can see from their cabin windows. The retreat is exactly on Hwy 50, and parking is easy access from the main Hwy.
Day 1:
Four of us drove up in one car and had packed clothes and food for three days. We arrived mid- afternoon on a Friday and immediately realized there was about two to three feet of snow on the ground that had fallen a few days earlier. The weather was clear and crisp, a normal fall weekend in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The cabin had a wood burning stove and a great large fireplace that heated the entire place. After dinner around 9pm we started to play poker; just joked around the way most normal college students did in the late 60's. During poker, in the main living room next to the kitchen, P. said he saw something (like a shadow) go by the kitchen window. We thought it was S. who was arriving later. We went outside, but nothing. We played more poker then P. and now R. thought they saw a shadow go by the lit kitchen window.
We checked outside again and nothing. Later, S. did arrive and we immediately filled him in on the shadows going by windows. S. unpacked and ate and wanted to play cards with the rest of us. About 11 pm J. sees some moving shadows in the windows in the eastern direction large view windows. We all go outside and look around; now we are getting really spooked out.
The five of us checked the entire outside cabin area in the snow. We found lots of tracks but no people. We are starting to believe other people are playing a joke on us from the other cabins. But as far as we could tell none of the other cabins were occupied.
We all went back into the cabin and decided to call it a night. Myself and R. found our sleeping bags and each picked a couch downstairs. The other three took the upstairs bedrooms and tried to get some sleep. We had no phone.
Sometime after 12:30am S. and J. wake us up and tell us to be quiet; come upstairs immediately. We wake up reluctantly, walk upstairs; there's P. points to the outside toward the open snow meadow in the south side of the cabin. The moon is bright.
Through the window we could see clearly at about 25' what looked like a huge bear standing upright. As we were looking down from the two story position; S. says there is more than one. He thinks there are three. I'm thinking what kind of bear walks upright? Soon we hear noises under the cabin like banging, digging and then the vilest primal scream I have ever heard. Not a growl or a barking sound, but some kind of prehistoric ear-splitting howling screams.
At that moment I felt we were in trouble. Our lives might be in jeopardy. We all went down stairs and tried to decide what to do. Real fear gripped us...we were 19 and 20 and not good at understanding a crisis. Then, more shadows run by the windows. Bears don't run upright. We went to the windows and could see this creature's face,"Oh my God", it's human like... It has a forehead with a broad nose...thin hair brown/red beard with flesh cheeks... it's looking at us.
It runs away but more noise comes from under the cabin. Then there was another primal howl. Two guys run upstairs and say "look you can see two or three of them". We all follow.
We had no knives, guns, not even a baseball bat. Then gripped by fear we all grabbed the fire place pokers and shovels and we ran outside to chase these things away. They ran away in the snow, made huge leaps across the ground. Never have I seen anything runs that fast especially in the snow. My friends had better looks than I did at the creatures and had been observing them longer than me. It was about 3 am and we tried to sit down; get calm and compare notes...none of us went to sleep. It was then we first realized it was a Bigfoot... or a family of Bigfoot.
Day 2:
At daylight we were eager to look for clues.... and decided to walk around the forested area without snow gear and try to follow the tracks. The tracks went back into the woods up to a cliff that is over a thousand feet high. We thought they could live somewhere around this cliff. We came back to the building and ate breakfast. Some of the guys had good views of the creatures and could describe more features I had missed. S. and P. were observing them longer than the rest of us and described one was over 6'7" with dark brown and reddish fur. The other two were smaller...closer to six feet and they had lighter fur.
They both thought one was female and the other was a juvenile. R. thought one had a bag with a rope of some kind and was pulling it when they ran away. Bears don't do that.
Later that afternoon several of our friends from HS and college visited us. One friend named B. and another, R. and his girlfriend (whose name I've forgotten). We told them the wild events from the night before. None of them believed us and thought we were playing a hoax on them to scare them. Soon R. and his girlfriend left but B. wanted to spend the night and see if they would come back.
That night nothing happened, we played cards, listened to music, ate dinner and all tried to sleep. We took turns standing guard waiting for another event. It was quiet except we heard a huge crash in the forest like a tree falling or a landslide from the cliffs.
Day 3:
That morning we noticed very large foot tracks in the snow, twice as many as the day before. I have a size 10 shoe and these tracks are like size 18-22 and extra wide and completely barefoot with a very large big toe... They had come back that night and we missed them. I decided to make a pair of snowshoes with some wood planks and follow the tracks back to the cliffs. That was not very wise. I took no water or food and it was really cold. S. decided to also follow tracks in a different direction. I followed the tracks for three hours and they made their way up to the cliffs. Then the tracks stopped. They went up hill very steep and I could no longer follow them. After I decided to walk back I realized I was very dehydrated and starving. I was completely exposed and very cold. When I made it back to the cabin... realized how close I came to freezing. S. had only ventured out about an hour and lost the trail. We spent the rest of the day looking for firewood and cooking. When evening came B. decided to leave and we were down to the original 5.
The cabin had a lot of books and magazines; we played some board games and again started cards.
It didn't take long when the first howling began, a little after 10:30pm. We looked out the windows, but none of us could see anything. Again, more primal howling took place. This went on for about a half hour; some of the guys were even more scared than the first night. Two of the guys wanted to leave. Get in the car and just leave, but S. and P. wanted to wait and see if they showed up again. Then it was quite, again I fell asleep in my sleeping bag, and again about 1 am I was woken up by R. when he kept saying "they got S., they got S.". S. had seen them walking on the wooden wrap-around porch and said he thought they were trying to get at the canned food under the house. He went outside to get a better look at the biggest one and it started to chase S. He was cut off from the cabin and he ran to the Hwy toward Strawberry Lodge. Now the guys were in complete panic. We ran to the carport and tried to start the car but the battery was dead. Then R. and J. both saw one or two more Bigfoot running around the building. They were not trying to get away from us; they were trying to trap us on the carport away from the house. As a Bigfoot approached two of the guys on the carport, a CHP drove up and had S. in the back seat. The creatures stopped but didn't run they just walked away.
We quickly explained what was happening to the officers. They believed us because according to one officer and S. they saw the Bigfoot that was chasing S. in the snow on the Hwy.
WE would have left that night except the car battery was gone. Then we noticed S. had frost bite in his toes and we had to get him to the fireplace to warm up.
The CHP asked us about drugs, checked out the cabin but we had nothing.
We stayed up the rest of the night and often heard the howling, we were all much traumatized. S. began to show signs of extreme stress and couldn't stop crying. How did he get away from the Bigfoot? He said the CHP saw him the second he ran out to the HWY and also saw the huge creature. They had heard about a break in at the garage down road about a 1/4 of a mile. They could hear us a quarter of a mile away and were coming to check out our noise.
In Conclusion:
The next morning we were able to push the car. We drove down to the garage that was broken into, for a jump, and talked to the owner. He said his night watchman said he saw a creature that night and it hit him through an open door or glass window and caused him to bleed. The owner didn't believe him until we came by to talk. Told him some of our ordeal and was completely scared to death. We decided to talk to some of the locals at the breakfast shop at Strawberry and we were told Bigfoot sightings were common in that area because they seemed to live in and around the Desolation Wilderness area.
We all went home told our parents and friends. Almost no one took us seriously or believed us. A year later the cabin owners mother saw a Bigfoot at the creek that runs behinds the cabin and sacred her really something awful.
I saw J. 35 years later and mentioned if he was ready to talk about the Bigfoot ordeal. He said he was ready but like me it took him 30 years to get over the trauma of feeling like we were going to be Bigfoot victims.
I'm sure all four others have their own extra facts on this event. They may have even more details than I can remember. I still can hear that bone chilling primal howling.
Everyone went on to have professional careers, Bankers, Engineers, and Brokers and so on... and I spent three years in the Army during Vietnam.
Also Noticed: People say they smell like skunk or a musky ox. We all agreed they smelled like horse dung but worse.
Conditions: Midnight to 3 in morning. A clear sky with lighted moon over white snow.
Other Witnesses: Five the first night, and six the second night, plus one or two California Hwy Patrol officers.
Other Stories: Yes, mostly the ones posted on your site.

August 2009; Texas (Freestone Co.) - Early morning sighting by a truck driver near Richland Chambers Lake
Date Submitted: 8/28/2009 8:56:54 PM
Investigator Name: Sybilla Christine Irwin
Report Classification: Class A

Year: 2009
Season: Summer
Month: August
Day of Month: 25
State: TX
County: Freestone
Nearest Town: Streetman
Nearest Road: FM.416
OBSERVED: At precisely 1:30 am, on the 25 of August 2009. I was driving a 18 wheeler on CR.196 which runs off of FM.416 in Freestone county Texas. I had just driven about 100 meters on a oil field lease road, when I spotted what I thought was a large Russian boar hog on the right side of the lease road about 75-100 feet in front of me. What really caught my eye was that it had a really big head covered with long bushy hair. I'd been driving about 20 mph before I saw it, but as soon as I saw it, I slowed down to maybe 5 mph. At this time, it stood up on it's hind legs and looked directly at me and growled at me as if it were a wolfman like in the old 50's movies. Then it ran on its hind legs like a human being, but faster than anything I've ever seen in my life; across the road in front of me, and into a tree line. I was in a 18 wheel Mack truck and this thing stood so tall as to look at me eye to eye. I've worked in the oil field for years and I've seen hogs of all sizes and breeds.Thousands of deer, and even black panthers. But this was something different, almost un-natural. I've never been more afraid in my life, than during the time I saw it and while I was performing the job I sent to do.
OTHER WITNESSES: None
TIME AND CONDITIONS: 1:30 am.The bright lights from my truck provided me a almost cinema like view. The weather conditions were clear.
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Sybilla Irwin:
I spoke with the witness initially on August 29, 2009, and have worked with him at length to create the witness sketches shown below. The following details can be added:
• The creature stood approximately 7 to 7 1/2 feet tall, with 12” long, grayish-black, messy hair on its head, and 3 or 4 inch hair on the rest of its body. The witness estimates its weight at a lanky 300 plus pounds, with thick thighs. He said the face was so black that he could not make out any facial details.
• The creature was originally squatting down facing his direction, doing something on the ground with its hands. He believes it was eating something and his arrival interrupted it. He estimates he was at a distance of 50 feet away from it when it stood and growled at him. He had his driver’s side window half down, and heard it clearly over the diesel engine.
• The creature moved rapidly from right to left, “faster than a deer”. It arms were very long, and it pumped them like a sprinter as it was running. It ducked down just as it was entering the tree line, covering over 50 feet in only 2 or 3 seconds.
• He reported that he was terribly shaken up and afraid. He was on the property for at least an hour doing his job and was constantly looking and listening for its return. He reported the sighting immediately to his supervisor. Following the incident, he did not sleep well, and was sick in his stomach for days.
• This sighting occurred within two miles of the Richland Chambers Lake and Richland Creek Wildlife Management Area. The lake is a 44,752-acre reservoir impounding waters of Chambers and Richland Creeks for Tarrant County (Fort Worth) water supply and outdoor recreation, boasting 330 miles of shoreline. Richland Chambers Lake is reported to be the state's third largest inland lake and the largest sailing basin in Texas.
Richland Creek Wildlife Management Area is owned and managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. It is located in an ecotone separating the Post Oak Savannah and Blackland Prairie ecological regions and the area lies almost entirely within the Trinity River flood plane. The average annual rainfall is 40 inches. Its wetlands are just a small part of the Richland Creek Wildlife Management Area. The area has a vast bottomland hardwood forest characterized by cedar, green ash, elm, box elder, black willow, and pockets of various types of oaks and native pecan. There is another 2,000 acres of timber and 9,000 acres of bottom land in Freestone County.
UPDATE: 10-22-09. The witness reported this incident to his superiors, and it was reported to the Energy company. Since his sighting, this job site is no longer worked at night; only in the daytime.

September 2009; Colorado (Lake Co.) - Woman describes vivid early morning sighting just below Independence Pass
Date Submitted: 9/1/2009 6:08:14 PM
Investigator Name: David Petti
Report Classification: Class A
Year: 2009
Season: Fall
Month: September
Day of Month; 1
State: CO
County: Lake
Directions to Location: Base of Independence Pass. This is the border of Lake and Pitkin County.
Just off the road, Hwy 82.
Nearest Town: Twin Lakes, CO
Nearest Road: Hwy 82
OBSERVED: (Job title edited at witness request for privacy). I am currently on a contract in Rifle Colorado. My home is 5 1/2 hrs south of Rifle so I stay in my camper 5 days a week. This morning, I left my home at 0245 as per usual. I stopped in Buena Vista to fuel up and get a coffee. As I came thru the little town of Twin Lakes, I was just feeling tired and the more I drove, the sleepier I got. So before I started up Independence Pass, I thought I would pull over and get some fresh air. (I had just noted that it was 36 degrees on the truck temp. gauge and even took a picture of it on my phone, to send to my brother in Virginia). I pulled over to the left side of the road. As I got out of the truck, I noticed movement in the meadow directly in front of me. Not more than 3-4 miles below here, I had just seen a buck deer so I was thinking that I had probably flushed another deer. As I walked to the rear of my truck, I continued to look out in the meadow and that is when I saw this thing move. At first I thought it was a bear but it rose straight up and that is when I knew it wasn't a bear. A bear's front legs hang in front of their belly when they stand and these did not. The "arms" hung to the sides just like a person. Only if this was a person, he was really tall. It was furry and a deep brown/red in color. I was so frightened that I thought I would throw up. As I moved back toward my truck door, it tipped its head back as if it was smelling the air. When I opened the truck door, it turned, bent over and picked something up and began to run on two legs across the meadow away from me. Not running like sprinting, but running at a pace that he could probably continue for hours. Honestly, the thing that struck me most about this was the way it picked up, whatever it was, and carried it with both hands clasped together in front of its torso. By now I was back in my truck, shaking and tearful.
I live in my camper 5 days a week. I move from State Park to State Park. I see wildlife daily. I just saw a black bear Sunday evening and I know what they look like when they stand, how they grunt and grumble. I know how they lumber and run...this was not a bear. It was like nothing I have ever seen.
OTHER WITNESSES: Just myself. I travel this route twice a week for my job, when the pass is open, as it saves me about 30 minutes in my commute.
It was about 3 1/2 hrs into my commute and I was getting a bit sleepy. I pulled over to get out and walk around the truck to wake up.
OTHER STORIES: No! Not that I would tell anyone what I saw, nor would I have believed anyone else...prior to this morning.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: 6:15am
twilight / 1st light of day
It was very still, no wind
ENVIRONMENT: Base of Independence Pass. Very wet, creeks weaving all thru these meadows. Lush.
Follow-up investigation report:
I interviewed this witness for well over two hours on the evening of September 3rd, 2009 and found her to be quite overwhelmed, very enthusiastic, and thoroughly convinced by her sighting and very relieved to have someone to seriously discuss it with, as she claimed to have not mentioned it to anyone in those two days because of her concern about the expected ridicule and disbelief that so often follows such reports. What followed was a reasonable and thorough discussion of the details of her sighting, her opinion regarding the subject previously and the significant impact it has had on her immediately thereafter.
The witness was approximately 3 1/2 hours into her 5 1/2 hour twice-weekly commute to her then-current work assignment in Rifle when she decided to pull over and stop and refresh herself before the drive over Independence Pass. Since turning off Highway 24 and onto Highway 82 until she pulled over, she noted that she was following two work trucks that appeared to be carrying welding units and traveling together, although neither truck slowed down or gave any other indication of seeing anything when and where she stopped. Days later, she returned to the same location and was able to precisely determine the location as the pullout on the west side of the road at mile-marker 67.
Upon first stepping out of her truck, she noticed some movement in the meadow below her but paid no particular attention at first, assuming it to possibly be just another deer, as she had just seen another minutes before, and because its coloration appeared similar at first glance. It was approximately fifteen minutes before sunrise and the light was sufficient that she was able to see well. As she walked toward the back of her truck, she continued to look out at this figure. It was down a small embankment off the roadside pull-out and out into a little meadow at the edge of some brush at a distance of about forty yards (which was confirmed during her own return visit when she paced off the distance and by my own visit to the location shortly thereafter) giving her a clear and unobstructed view.
She further described it as a "reddish, cinnamon-wash color, almost a copper." She guessed she had watched this figure for 10-20 seconds, thinking then that perhaps it was a bear, but then it stood fully upright and she quickly concluded "No doubt in my mind, it's not a bear!" She explained that when standing, as she had seen before, "bear arms hang in front of it and are short, but these arms were hanging to the side just like a human." "The arms were hanging down well-past its buttocks almost to mid-thigh." She then even briefly considered the possibility "Is that some kind of funky camouflage?" and if she had "caught a hunter hoaxing or something?" After standing, the figure was almost facing her, looking a little to the left and down-valley, toward the direction from which she had come. The witness was stunned and overwhelmed with fear and started slowly returning along the side of her truck. She described it next arching its back and raising its head at the same time in one unified motion as if, she assumed, it was sniffing the air. The witness clearly noticed breasts in profile. It then turned and looked directly at her and "locked eyes with me" and both stood staring for what she thought was, or felt like, up to 40-45 seconds. "I absolutely could not not look at it. I was afraid to look away. I need to know if it's coming at me. It was big." Due to her work with patients, the witness emphasized how very experienced and usually accurate she is in guessing heights and weights and went on to mention that she has two brothers; one 6'4" and the other 6'5". She estimated this figure at "easily 7 feet, but I don't think it was much bigger than that." It was also described as "not heavy, well-defined, 300-330 lbs. It wasn't fat." Its shoulders were "massive and well-defined, like a person who was buff, tapered to a waist" and that "definition of the biceps and quads" was clearly visible. The hair looked somewhat matted and "like dreadlocks in places." "The eyes almost looked like a liquid brown" and no white was visible or noticed. There was not much hair around the eyes, nose and lips, which were dark colored. The forehead was "flat and sloped a little something like a Flathead indian." No smell was noticed.
As soon as she opened her truck door, the figure quickly bent over, picked up something that "appeared smaller than a soccer ball" and began to run more or less straight across the valley bottom and away from her toward the opposite treeline. She assumed it picked up something it was eating or gathering and did not see any limbs or movement from whatever was picked up. She described seeing no visible arm movement from the figure as it ran away because it was holding what it had picked up just in front of it, but not clutched to its chest. The witness has horses and described the running motion as an easy pace, a loping stride, and much like that of a long-distance runner, although "it was really covering some ground."
As soon as the witness got back into her truck, she glanced back once or twice but did not continue to watch any longer and started to drive away. She went on to describe feeling like she was going to throw up and crying because she was so overwhelmed by the experience.
When asked about describing this apparent sasquatch as "he" in her narrative but describing what clearly appeared to be an obvious female in further discussion, the witness explained that it was all so much and she was just coming to terms with acknowledging, describing and reporting a bigfoot sighting at all. "He" was just a generic reference to the figure. She was reluctant to mention in her report, and initially somewhat hesitant to describe to me, the additional detail of the breasts of a female sasquatch.
The witness described never previously entertaining the serious thought of or giving any credence to the existence of sasquatch. She said she had always "poo-pooed" the subject and that she would have to see it to believe it. "I knew what it was. I ruled out what it wasn't. Everything in my rationale was shot out the window. I couldn't reason it away." She went on to describe how this sighting has shaken her and has forced her to reconsider and call into question everything she thought she was certain of because she was certain bigfoot was not real. "She landed in my lap. My life is forever changed." In her final estimation, "Overall, I did not equate this to some kind of animal but some variation of human as far as I could tell. I equate it to a hairy human."
Because I consider this a compelling and persuasive eyewitness account and because of the detail afforded by this close-range sighting, I asked the witness if she might be willing to discuss the incident with my friend, artist and BFRO associate Sybilla Irwin of Texas to which she readily agreed. Below are the sketches created with the direction of the witness.
